We’ve just finished the inaugural Brent Wilson flagship store in Melbourne’s QV centre…
Award-winning designer Brent Wilson couldn’t be happier with the results of his new flagship store:
“When I open a shop I want to have the best product, the best staff, the best fitout. The store needs to be perfect before we open the next one,” explains Brent, Winner of GQ designer of the year 2012.
“Menswear stores at the moment are all very similar in terms of the aesthetic; we wanted to go down a different path and give shoppers a unique experience. A lot of brands want to have the same concepts in all of their stores, but I like having fun with design whether it be fashion or interiors and the Melbourne store is a different look to Sydney as we’ve a lot more space to play with. It’s double the size, there’s a lounge area, and a lot of room for customers to try on products and stand in front of the mirror. It’s roomy, airy, the focus is on the clothes which appear in pops of colour on the mannequin installations.”
“I’m so happy with what we were able to achieve with Valmont – we’ll be teaming up again next year when I launch my Brisbane store which will have a different look again – it will have the Brent Wilson signature but with a Brisbane flavour. After we open in Brisbane, we will then have a stand-alone store in each state. I don’t want to over-saturate the market, the bigger brands do that – we like having that niche factor.
“We’ve a bit of a following in the States so 2017 /18 will see us opening flagship stores in LA followed by New York.”
